For the film numbers of other villages, consult the online catalogue at:
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHLC/frameset_fhlc.asp.

Please note that the LDS do not have the records for all of Mattie's neighbours - for example records are available for Meana di Susa, Mattie's western neighbour, but there is nothing in the catalogue for San Giorio, the village to the east.

Also available through Family History Centres are 19th century military conscription records for men born in the Susa district, which included Mattie.
If a birth cannot be found in the civil records, the military records could point to a different place of birth than expected.
The Family History Library catalogues these under Susa.

You will probably need to make two trips to your local Family History Centre, one to request that the microfilm be brought in from Salt Lake City, and then a second trip a few weeks later to view the films. These are in the more narrow 16 mm microfilm format, so be sure to reserve the appropriate-sized reader.

The location of your nearest Family History Centre may be found at:

If you do not understand Italian, prior to viewing these films you may wish to purchase a book that offers an English translation of the standard text used in Italian birth, marriage and death records. Two such books are Lynn Nelson's Discovering Your Italian Ancestors and Trafford Cole's Italian Genealogical Records.

The above note was prepared by Emile Franco, whose grandparents came to Canada from Meana di Susa and San Giorio, two villages that border Mattie.
